Hannover Milano forms alliance with Haiming

Shanghai, 24th October: International exhibition organiser, Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Limited and the Haiming International Exhibition Group, a Chinese exhibition organiser, announced that the two companies have signed a strategic cooperation agreement and they will jointly organise the ICE ASIA (International Cold Chain Exhibition) beginning in 2020.

ICE ASIA, will be held concurrently with the International Trade Fair for Materials Handling, Automation Technology, Transport Systems and Logistics (CeMAT ASIA). The show will focus on cold transport, logistics and information technology for professionals in the integrated cold chain services industry.

Shenzhen World venue is officially completed

Shenzhen, 24th October: A completion ceremony of the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center was held on 28th September marking the official completion of the new mega venue.

Shenzhen World occupies a total of 1.21 million m2 of land and the building features a total floor area of 1.605 million m2 – of which 400.000 m2 is indoor exhibition area. The venue will host five core large-scale activities: exhibitions, conventions, live entertainment, sports events and F&B functions.

Messe München hosts two shows in India

Mumbai, 25th October: Messe München recently concluded both IFAT India and LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA earlier this month at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Mumbai.

Running from 16th to 18th October, IFAT India featured 311 exhibitors and attracted almost 10,000 trade visitors. It occupied an exhibition of 14,500 m2 according to the organiser. The show focused on developing sustainable waste management solutions and modernizing environmental infrastructure.

The 8th edition of LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA was held from 17th to 19th October covering 7,300 m2. The three-day show attracted over 4,500 visitors and it featured 142 exhibitors. The show targeted professionals from the following industries: automotive, manufacturing, science and academia, medical, defence, and machine tool manufacturing.

HKTB appoints new Executive Director

Hong Kong, 29th October: Earlier this week, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced the appointment of Mr. Dane Cheng as Executive Director of the HKTB, effective from 1st November 2019. He replaced previous Executive Director Anthony Lau who stepped down from the role at the end of July.

Mr Cheng graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and he has held senior positions in general management, marketing, communications and international affairs around the region. Cheng has more than 30 years of experience and industry knowledge focused on travel and tourism.

Meorient up 11% in revenues & profits in Q3

Hangzhou, 30th October: Newly-listed Meorient, a Hangzhou-based exhibition organiser, announced its financial results for the quarter ended 30th September 2019. Revenues were US$13 million, representing an increase of 11%. The company’s net profits in the quarter also grew by 11% reaching US$1.4 million.

The Shenzhen-listed company also reported its financial results for the nine months ended 30th September. Revenues in the nine-month period were US$36 million, representing growth 8.1% year-on-year. Net profits were US$3.7 million, up 5.6% compared with the same period in 2018. Diluted earnings per share for the first nine months of 2019 were RMB 0.35 (US$0.049).

Lansheng’s revenues up, profits down

Shanghai, 26th October: Lansheng, Shanghai-listed exhibition organiser (and conglomerate), has released its results for the nine months ended 30th September 2019. The company generated revenues of US$357 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%. However, its net profits in the period dropped 31%, down to US$23 million. Management attributed the decrease in profits to a rise in the cost of its operations.

Diluted earnings per share in the first nine months of the year were RMB 0.39 (US$0.055).

Netsun’s profit up in Q3

Hangzhou, 23rd October: Zhejiang Netsun, a Chinese online information provider, recently announced its financial results for the quarter ended 30th September 2019. Netsun generated revenues of US$18 million in the third quarter, rising by 6.5% compared to the same quarter last year. Net income jumped by an impressive 234%, but the total figure remained at just US$1.8 million.

Made-in-China.com’s profit up 58% in Q3

Nanjing, 23rd October: Earlier this week, Shenzhen-listed Focus Technology, which is the owner and operator of Made-in-China.com, reported its financial results for the quarter ended 30th September 2019. Revenues in the quarter were US$35 million, representing an increase of 6.9% compared with the same quarter last year. The company’s net income increased by 58% to US$6.6 million in the quarter.

Shenzhen game show to move to Shenzhen World

Shenzhen, 11th October: The 7th edition of the Shenzhen International Game Show in 2020 will move to Shenzhen’s new mega venue, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. The event will run from 23rd to 26th July 2020.

The show will be organised under the theme, “New Venue, New Planning” and the organiser notes that the aim of the event is to further develop a professional and inclusive game industry event. It will also focus on integrating quality animation and game resources in the development of new games. Highlights of the event will include: “superstar gamers”, cosplay performances, a dance competition, and live shows of internationally pop groups.

Comexposium forms JV to organise RemaxWorld

Shanghai, 22nd October: Comexposium, a French international exhibition organiser, announced that the company has entered into a joint venture agreement with Recycling Times Media Corporation, founder of RemaxWorld, to organise and develop the RemaxWorld Expo & Summit.

Under the terms of the partnership, Comexposium will organise and develop RemaxWorld Expo & Summit, an office equipment and printing consumable industry exhibition. The annual event is held in Zhuhai, China and it occupies an exhibition area of 30,000 m2 featuring 450 exhibitors and 14,000 visitors from 104 countries.

Meorient lists on Shenzhen exchange

Shenzhen, 22nd October: Meorient, a Chinese exhibition organiser, has listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE). The company debuted on the exchange on 22nd October. Meorient’s stock code is 300795. The company is reportedly the first exhibition organiser in China to be listed on a major stock exchange.

According to the SZSE, Meorient’s IPO offered just over 25 million shares at RMB 14.27 (US$2.02) per share and raising funds of RMB 357 million (US$51 million). The post-public-offering share capital is RMB 100.2 million. Meorient’s shares closed on Friday at RMB 27.36.

 

XPO acquires 9 shows at North Port Events

New Zealand, 23rd October: XPO Exhibitions, a trade show organiser in New Zealand, announced that the company has acquired nine shows from North Port Events. No financial details were released.

The nine shows are The Baby Shows, The Food Shows (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch), Fine Food New Zealand, Facilities Integrate, The Waikato Home & Garden Show, Autumn HomeXPO.

Busan to host technology congress in 2026

Busan, 15th October: The board of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) World Congress has announced that the 23rd edition of its congress will be held in Busan, Korea from 20th to 25th August 2026.

 

The congress is expected to draw 3,500 delegates to Busan. The bid was supported by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), Busan Tourism Organization (BTO), and the Control Robot Systems Society, South Korea’s member in the IFAC.
