Baidu acquires xPerception to strengthen AI business

Beijing, 13th April: The leading Chinese-language Internet search provider, Baidu, Inc., recently announced its acquisition of xPerception, for an undisclosed sum. xPerception is a U.S. technology company that provides visual perception software and hardware solutions for a wide range of applications.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen the use of Baidu’s visual perception technology in key projects. Under the terms of the deal, the core xPerception team will join Baidu Research and will continue developing xPerception’s core technology, visual inertial simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).
