Queensland approves Cairns venue’s expansion

Cairns, 8th August: The Cairns Convention Centre has received approval from the Queensland government’s for an A$179 million (US$119 million) upgrade of the venue. The Cairns Convention Centre opened in 1996 and is operated by AEG Ogden.

The upgrade work will begin June 2020. It will include a refurbishment of existing facilities and an expansion of space providing an additional 3,000 m2 of meeting, banquet and exhibition capacity. The refurbishment work is scheduled to completed by November 2020 and the expansion work by 2021/22.
