HKECIA survey: All members to post a loss in 2020

Hong Kong, 17th August: The Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) has released the results of its recent survey to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the events industry in Hong Kong. Circulated in late July, 59 of HKECIA’s 115 members responded to the survey.

91% of the respondents stated that the Hong Kong government’s planned Convention and Exhibition Industry Subsidy Scheme was insufficient. And in fact, no event organiser has received any subsidy under the scheme so far and since it was announced there have been further postponements and cancellations of exhibitions due to the so-called third wave of COVID-19 infections in Hong Kong.
