HK government to provide more support for events

Hong Kong, 8th October: Last week, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, announced in her latest Policy Address that the government will extend its Convention and Exhibition Industry Subsidy Scheme for an additional six months to 31st December 2022.

In addition, a one-off immediate relief measure for private organisers of exhibitions will be part of the extended scheme. Organisers of exhibitions held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) or AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) from 2015 to 2021 may apply for the immediate relief. The amount will be equivalent to 20% of the average annual rental of the relevant exhibition – up to a maximum of HK$1 million (US$128,500) per event. The original Convention and Exhibition Industry Subsidy Scheme was launched on 3rd October 2020 with a value of HK$1.07 billion (US$137.5 million).
