CCID Consulting’s profit jumps 77% in 2018

Beijing, 22nd March: CCID Consulting, an IT research and information service provider in China, recently announced its financial results for the year ended 31st December 2018. The company reported that its revenues increased by 24% reaching US$24 million. Net profit in the year was US$4.9 million – representing growth of 77% compared with the same figure in 2017. Diluted earnings per share in 2018 were RMB 0.041 (US$0.0060).

Messe Düsseldorf appoints new GM in Japan

Tokyo, 21st March: Messe Düsseldorf, an international exhibition organiser, has appointed Akiko Ohara as General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Japan, succeeding Dr. Andreas Moerke. After 12 years in Japan, Dr. Moerke will return to a management position at the company’s home base in Germany as of 1st August 2019. The appointment of Ms. Ohara represents the first time Messe Düsseldorf has appointed a woman to the top position in one of its international subsidiaries.

HC Group’s revenues up 185% in 2018

Hong Kong, 26th March: Earlier this week, the HC Group, an online B2B information services provider in China, reported total revenues of US$1.52 billion for the year ended 31st December 2018. That represents growth of 185% year-on-year. The revenue growth was mainly from HC’s smart industries segment – its well-developed B2B trading platform.

Sino Splendid narrows loss

Hong Kong, 20th March: Last week, Hong Kong-listed Sino Splendid (formerly China.com) announced its full year results for the year ended 31st December 2018. The company reported revenues of US$12 million in the year, increasing slightly by 1.5% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the company narrowed its net loss for the year, down to US$3.7 million compared with the loss of US$23 million in 2017.

600 exhibitors attend MIFF in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 8th March: Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), Malaysia’s largest furniture fair, celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Some 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions attended the exhibition this year.

Running from 8th to 11th March, MIFF was held at two separate venues in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). According to the organiser, UBM Malaysia (a subsidiary of Informa Global Exhibitions), pre-registered international buyers increased by 10% at this edition with strong numbers from North America, Africa and Eastern Europe.

First LED & SIGN CHINA held in Shenzhen

Shenzhen, 11th March: The inaugural edition of SIGN China – Shenzhen, LED CHINA – Shenzhen and Digital Signage – Shenzhen concluded last month, held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center (SZCEC). The co-located events featured over 550 brands.

Organised by UBM Trust, the co-located shows ran from 21st to 23rd February 2019. Three-day shows attracted a total of 24,039 professional buyers – 3,071 visitors, or 13%, were international buyers from 104 countries and regions. Exhibitors covered a wide range of segments from the sign, LED, and digital signage industries, while visitors were primarily from the LED and advertising fields, but other visitor categories included stage lighting, landscape illumination, transportation, retail security surveillance, and hotel & property management.

MyCEB supported 300 events in Malaysia in 2018

Malaysia, March: Recently, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) released its annual report for 2018. In total, the bureau supported 300 events during the year, generating an estimated economic impact of RM2.47 billion (US$595 million) for Malaysia. A total of 350,000 delegates attended these events, including 163,000 international delegates.

A total of 195 corporate & incentive events were held in 2018, while the bureau supported 84 association events and 21 exhibitions. Corporate & incentive events featured over 61,000 delegates (of those, 60,399 were international delegates) and generated an economic impact of RM 790 million (US$190 million).

Association events generated an estimated economic impact of RM 1.05 billion (US$253 million), attracting almost 100,000 delegates (including 47,832 international delegates). Exhibitions attracted 190,155 delegates and of those 55,000 were international. The economic impact of those exhibitions was approximately US$152 million.
