MCEC unveils details of expansion project
/Melbourne, 24th October: Last week, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) held a preview event to unveil three new features that are part of its current US$235 million expansion plan – including a gala venue, a theatre and courtyard meeting rooms.
The gala venue, named the Sovereign Room, will have the capacity to accommodate 450 people for gala dinners or nearly 800 visitors for meetings and business events. The Goldfields Theatre will feature retractable seats for 1,000 people and it can also serve as a banquet dining hall. The theatre will also convert into pillar-less exhibition space of 9,000 m2. Finally, MCEC also revealed details of two Courtyard Meeting Rooms that can serve 70 people each or 130 people when merged into a single room.
